As a locally owned Reno business, we’ve had the opportunity to get to know some wonderful professionals in our community. Here are a few of our favorite local professionals who have earned our trust over the years.
Our Favorite Veterinarian
Dr. Brim was born and raised on a farm in central Iowa, where she was actively involved in 4-H and showed Holstein dairy cattle, chickens, and Arabian horses. She grew up raising and caring for a wide variety of farm animals, cats, dogs, and even the occasional wild animal. When she wasn’t doing chores or riding horses, she helped her family raise and preserve much of their own food.
Dr. Brim earned her B.S. in Genetics from Iowa State University in 1987, becoming the first person to graduate from the university’s Genetics degree program. During her undergraduate years, she worked in the Genetics Laboratory on campus and at the Iowa State University Dairy Farm.
After graduation, she worked for one year as a genetic engineer before pursuing her passion for veterinary medicine. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1991 and remained at Iowa State University to complete a master’s degree in Nutritional Physiology in 1992.
Throughout her career, Dr. Brim practiced both large- and small-animal medicine. She also served as Plant Veterinarian for the pharmaceutical and vaccine company Fort Dodge Animal Health and later owned and operated her own traditional and holistic mobile veterinary practice.
After moving to Nevada, Dr. Brim pursued specialized training in holistic veterinary medicine. She is certified in Veterinary Acupuncture, Canine Massage Therapy, and Veterinary Medical Manipulation (Chiropractic).
Outside of veterinary medicine, she enjoys rockhounding, hiking with her dogs, riding her horse, camping, and skiing with her family.
Dr. Brim has retired from veterinary practice, but she continues to answer questions submitted through First Source Pet Foods Reno regarding pet nutrition.
